I'm thinking about producing draft mules in the good old days before AI - rather like wondering how the male Chihuahua and the female Great Dane get together. :-)

I haven't been around mules, but in this area many people have donkeys that have been rescued. In the olden days, breeders used mares that weren't good for anything except dropping foals. But anyway, the mules where the big ones, like you have in the pictures, not the little ones like I'm seeing lately that look more like donkeys than mules. My mom and her sisters used to race their mules. They also used to double up to go visiting on one they called Old Dick. Mom said he would go so far with you and then he'd just stop and nothing would budge him.
