Lyn Horner

Howdy! I'm Lyn Horner, and it's my pleasure to be part of Cowboy Kisses. Many thanks to Miz Ging for creating a home for western romance lovers.

By birth I’m a California girl, but I grew up in Minnesota. Trained in the visual arts, I worked as a fashion illustrator and art instructor. Following a move to Chicagoland, I stayed home to raise my children – and soon grew desperate for a creative outlet. I’d always enjoyed writing and loved reading historical romances, so I decided to try writing one. This hobby grew into a love of historical research and the crafting of passionate romances based on that research.

After many false starts, plus moving to Texas, I launched my first book, Darlin' Druid, in 2010. The second book in my Texas Druids trilogy is now out, and the third is in the works. I've also written a novella (a prequel to the series) and a memoir. To sample my works, click the book title (in blue.) This takes you to the book page on amazon.com.

Darlin' Druid, 2nd place -- Paranormal Romance Guild 2011 Reviewers Choice Awards. Now in print & Kindle.

Psychics in the Old West? Yup! Say howdy to my Texas Druids. This first book in the trilogy is a tale of epic adventure, stormy romance and family strife, set ablaze by flashes of Druid magic. Jessie Devlin, a descendent of the “Old Ones,” sees into the future. A prophetic vision sends her west in search of a man she believes she’s fated to love. Captain David Taylor, a Texan exiled from home after fighting for the Yankees in the Civil War, might be the man Jessie seeks. Or has her gift betrayed her? Will her quest lead her to happiness . . . or into a deadly trap?

What reviewers are saying:

"Fans of historical romance and possibly even those who are into westerns, sans romance, should find much to like in Darlin' Druid."  -- BigAl's Books and Pals

"I'll admit I was completely thrown by the title of this book. If for some reason you are as well, "fuhgeddaboudit"! This is an engaging, page turning, can't put it down, don't know where the time went, read."

Dashing Druid
The eldest of three gifted siblings, descendents of Irish Druids, Tye Devlin is empathic. He “feels” others’ emotions. Although he’s learned to block out most of the “racket,” he has no defense against cowgirl Lil Crawford’s hidden pain, for it echoes his own. Healing each other will be no easy task for these two wounded souls. Set against a backdrop of Texas ranch life and an iconic cattle drive, this story pits Tye and Lil against dangerous enemies and their own feuding families as they fight their personal demons.

"One of this book's strengths is the way the supporting characters from the first novel transfer into the main characters of the second, while the main characters of the first novel shift into the supporting characters in order for Tye and Lil's story to emerge. This isn't always as easy as it sounds and Lyn Horner does it flawlessly."

White Witch, a novella, carries Jessie and Tye Devlin and their father through the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. Plagued by fiery nightmares for months after the catastrophy, Jessie begins to dream of the man she will later seek in Darlin' Druid.

"I really enjoyed reading this prequel . . . I had never really heard of the Chicago Fire and to read of the suffering and loss was just tragic. This is where Jesse's gift makes an appearance leading into Darlin' Druid. Also Tye's gift which leads to his story, Dashin' Druid. These books are wonderful and I would highly recommend them to anyone." -- Review by Bev Harro

Six Cats In My Kitchen -- No this is not a western romance, but it's the book of my heart. The following review excerpt gives a good description.

"I opened this book up . . . and found myself hard-pressed to set it down. It is written in a conversational style that made me feel as if I was listening to a friend chatting with me over a cup of coffee. There is a lot of humor peppered throughout the narrative, but I do agree with the author's declaration that this book is not just a cutesy kitty book. . . .  Her animal companions are cherished family members, all with distinctive personalities and quirks."  -- Laurie Jenkins of Laurie's Thoughts and Reviews
