As 2017 comes to a close, I want to thank each every one of my dear readers, many of whom I've come to know on social media, for such a fantastic year. It has honestly been the best of my career and I owe it to you all. (I wanted to celebrate so keep scrolling for a chance to win a few treats!!) I also must extend my warmest of gratitude to my fellow authors for their mutual support and good humor this year, as well as writing entertaining stories that I've truly enjoyed reading. Writing is such a solitary endeavor that these friendships have literally been a lifesaver for me.
Over Thanksgiving I finally had a chance to hike in Sedona, Arizona. Despite being a native, this was something I'd never gotten around to doing. And it was fantastic!! I highly recommend and hope to get back for more treks next year. Here's a few photos from Cathedral Rock.
The trail begins fairly flat. (Cathedral Rock, Sedona, Arizona) |
But it soon becomes steep. This is my daughter Hannah. (Cathedral Rock, Sedona, Arizona) |

In the distance (on the precipice) are my nephew, his wife, and my daughter. They were too brave for me. (Cathedral Rock, Sedona, Arizona) |

Here I am admiring the amazing red rocks. (Cathedral Rock, Sedona, Arizona) |
After our hike, we headed to lunch at Tlaquepaque, a popular shopping area in the heart of Sedona. We found a bakery that sold these cute cactus sugar cookies. |
And now for the treats!!
If you're familiar with my Wings of the West series, then I wanted to let you know about a BRAND NEW Christmas short story featuring Molly and her sister Emma (Matt and Nathan also make an appearance). This is available exclusively to my newsletter subscribers. (The email for current subscribers went out on December 1 so check your inbox or spam folders.)
Christmas Eve 1878
Molly Hart Ryan and her sister, Emma Blackmore, return to the abandoned Hart Ranch to visit the gravesites of their folks. While confronting the past revives a deep heartache and sadness that has long been buried, it also offers an unexpected gift.

In addition, you'll receive the short novella SONG OF THE WREN, also not available anywhere else. (I recommend that you read THE WREN before grabbing these freebies.) THE WREN is permafree at all ebook outlets.
Two years after THE WREN, Matt Ryan finds more than rustlers when his cattle begin disappearing. Forced to confront an enemy he thought long gone, he must ready for a fight, but he’s never faced a battlefield like this before, and only his wife, Molly, can save him this time.

Congratulations on a successful year! Well-deserved. You're a hard worker. Sedona is so beautiful. It looks like you had quite a trip. Also I have a fondest for frosted sugar cookies so I enjoyed the cactus cookie picture. I was glad to have the opportunity to work with you and the others this year on our anthology. Best wishes for all your future endeavors!
