Lake Bride

When I was writing my sweet historical western Henley, I had a general idea of how I wanted the book to end.

However, as I was working on the final chapters, I started thinking about Doctor Evan Holt having a place out by the lake. It would make a grand place for a fellow to propose, if he was so inclined.

As I wrote that scent about Henley and Evan out at the lake, I just wasn't ready to say goodbye to the beauty of the place as I envisioned it in my mind. Neither was I ready to let go of Henley and Evan.

Then I landed on the idea to write a story set at the lake about one of their descendants. My goodness! I had so much fun writing about their great-great-great-grandson!

Like his ancestors, Bridger Holt is all about honor and service. He's spent two years as a guard of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

When life takes an unexpected turn, Bridger isn't sure which way to head. So he goes to Oregon to the cabin on the lake he inherited from his uncle.

While he's there, his ancestors become more than just names on a family tree, and he founds pieces of himself he hadn't even realized were missing.

Fall in love with a soldier, a nurse, and a small-town adventure brimming with delightful characters, amusing animals, and abiding hope.

Twenty-one steps.

The past two years of Bridger Holt’s life have centered on the twenty-one steps he repeatedly walks back and forth as one of the sentinels guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Now that his duty is coming to an end, Bridger has no idea what to do with the rest of his life. Guilt from his past and trepidation about his unknown future drive him to the mountain cabin he inherited from his beloved uncle to gain clarity and direction. The quirky residents in the nearby town of Holiday, the assortment of wildlife that adopts him, and the woman who shines a light into his tattered soul might be what Bridger needs to find the redemption he seeks.

Outgoing, upbeat Shayla Reeves spreads sunshine wherever she goes. Holiday has become her home, and she enjoys spending time in the mountains around town. She adores the patients in the dementia facility where she works as a nurse. But something is missing from her mostly joyful world. When she mistakenly camps on private land owned by the mysterious and brooding Bridger Holt, she realizes what her life is lacking isn’t adventure but love.

Will two opposite personalities overcome their challenges and figure out a way to build a future together?

Find out in Lake Bride, a sweet love story full of hope, small-town humor, and the wonder of falling in love.

Henley

I love having new books to share!
Today is the official cover reveal and sharing of the pre-order link for Henley, a sweet historical western romance that is part of the new Love Train series!

Each book features a character with a secret, and an introduction of the hero and heroine on a train!
Woohoo!

Even more exciting - Henley is going to take place in the town of Holiday, Oregon.
You might recall Holiday from the Holiday Express series that spans several generations, or from my contemporary Holiday Brides series.
At any rate, Henley Jones is heading to Holiday to marry a man she has yet to meet. This story takes place in 1885, right after Holiday Hope.

Love is a gamble, and heartbreak is a risk she’s willing to take.

Despite her dreams to set down roots, Henley Jones has never had a place to call home. She’s spent her life on riverboats and railroad cars, tagging along with her gambling father. A shoot-out during a card game results in his death, leaving Henley alone and nearly penniless. Out of luck and options, Henley agrees to travel across the country to the newly established town of Holiday, Oregon to marry a stranger.

A demanding practice in a town clawing its way to respectability keeps Doctor Evan Holt rushing at a hectic pace. He’s far too busy to see to pressing matters like hiring competent help, or finding a wife. When one of his patients orders a mail-order bride, Evan can’t decide if the man is crazy or brilliant. From the moment he meets her, Evan battles an unreasonable attraction to the beautiful, charming woman who seems to be hiding something from her past.

In a town flush with possibilities, will taking a chance on love end with heartache or a winning hand? Find out in this sweet western romance full of the humor, hope, and love.

Henley is part of the Love Train sweet romance series. Look for more books set in Holiday in the heartwarming and wholesome Holiday Express series.

Hop Aboard the Holiday Express

The notion of hopping on a special Christmas train makes me smile.

And if that train travels through the old West and carries a mail-order bride, even better!

The idea for my latest series, Holiday Express, came to me a few years ago when my husband and I were driving through Nevada. We stopped in Ely at the Nevada Northern Railway Museum.

We'd only been inside the historic depot a few minutes when I started thinking about the idea of a mail-order bride story. By the time we left the museum, I had landed on the idea of a series of stories that would span several generations and includes a steam engine named Hope.

Four generations discover the wonder of the season and the magic of one very special train in these sweet holiday romances.

Today, the second book in the series releases. The remaining two will release December 14 and December 21!

Here's a little about each book!

Holiday Hope

Release Date: November 30

Limited Time Price: 99 cents

Infuse your holidays with hope and humor in this sweet western romance

When it becomes obvious her reluctant groom-to-be has no intention of showing up at the family ranch where she’s staying, Cora Lee must decide if she’ll follow her head or heart.

Jace Coleman has loved trains since the first time he rode on one as a boy. Now, he spends his days as an engineer driving the Holiday Express line on a new engine named Hope. When a mail-order bride turns up at his father’s ranch to wed his brother, Jace has an idea his meddling father has tried his hand at matchmaking. The longer Cora Lee stays at the ranch, the harder Jace works to keep from falling for his brother’s intended bride.

Will Jace and Cora Lee discover the gift of hope? Find out in this sweet holiday romance full of memorable characters, warmth, and Christmas cheer.

Life couldn’t get any sweeter, or so he convinces himself, until he’s on his way home from work and saves a woman from getting hit by a wagon. How was he to know that one, brief encounter would upend his world?

Now that he’s moved her into a new house in a remote Oregon location, Lorna wonders if she’ll fit into the small community.
