2026 is the 250th year since the Declaration of Independence and the 150th year since Colorado became a state. Over the next year, I am planning to write about the journey of Colorado to statehood, the people involved, and the historic connections between the two events across the various platforms I write for. I hope you will join me on this journey. It's history, so I know I am going to be very happy doing the research.
The state is planning a number of celebrations, and for those interested, you can access them through History Colorado https://www.historycolorado.org/colorado-150 , and https://peakradar.com/categories/am250co150/
For those who may not know, Colorado became the 38th state on August 1, 1876, earning the nickname "The Centennial State", hence the name of the James Michner book "Centennial" about Colorado. President Ulysses S. Grant was the one who made the proclamation.
Until next time,
Doris
